Rainy Sunday

Dexter just fell asleep for his morning nap (it's almost noon), which I can only hope lasts longer than 45 minutes. I've been trying to get him to fall asleep for most of the morning so that I could catch a quick nap and now it's too late. I'm awake and drinking coffee. I'm not a big fan of wasting the day.

Dexter makes the funniest faces in the bath. He doesn't cry or act unhappy, just confused, ha.

Over the past couple weeks his little personality has really started to show. He smiles so much, "talks", and bats at his toys.

I'm pretty sure Old Man Spitfire doesn't even know Dexter exists. Although, he does enjoy Dexter's things. I keep catching him asleep in his pack n play or on the play mat, and once in the bouncy seat.

A few days ago Dexter and I went to visit his Babysitter, Jennifer. This was the first time they had met. She has a little boy 10 days older than Dexter, his name is Hudson. She also has a little girl that is almost 2, her name is Madison. Dexter seemed relaxed at her house. Once Hudson and Dexter get a little older they should have a lot of fun playing together.
I go back to work in 4 weeks. Leaving him is going to break my heart :(

Tagged-10 Random Things About Me

My friend, Lauren , tagged me to do "10 Random Things About Me" so, here it is:

1. I like honey with my Morning Star Buffalo Wings and "Chick" Nuggets.
2. I burn candles and spray FreBreeze (spelling?) constantly because I'm worried about my house smelling like animals.
3. I love Winter, despise Summer, and would love to live in Portland, OR.
4. I have a business degree, but I started as Culinary major and I wish I would've stuck with it, but my life would be completely different now, so maybe not.
5. I'm an obsessive list maker.
6. I love green tea.
7. My first concert was Def Leopard, in 7th grade.
8. I kill plants. I try so hard, follow the directions, but they all end up dead.
9. I need the sound of a clock ticking to fall asleep at night.
10. I've been into Alice ever since I was a kid. It started with the Disney movie, then the books. It's a dorky obsession, but everybody has their thing :)

Ok, so who to tag... how bout the people with little babies! Nicole and Maggie !

6 wks...And here's what's up with me...

I can't believe how big Dexter is looking this week! He's up to 10 lbs and eating like crazy.
We went to our first Mommy and Me yoga class this past weekend. We did baby massage, then we used our babies as weights and such for the rest of class. It was a lot of fun and good to see the Moms that I had met in prenatal class. We have 5 more weeks of these classes then I'll be going back to regular Vinyasa classes and hopefully some hot classes too, as soon as I get some endurance back. Baby class is fun, but not very relaxing.
I've been really bad about taking pictures. I need to just keep my camera close by and try to take at least one pic of him a day.

Now to how I'm feeling...
During pregnancy the weight gain was a big issue for me. But, now trying to lose the weight has become an obsession. I feel like I've lost so much of myself and that by getting back to my normal size I'll feel good again. Also, prior to getting pregnant I loved shopping and clothes. Now there's no point to buying clothes until I lose most of this weight, it's just too depressing. The winter season is my favorite time for clothes and this year there are so many great styles, so I'm bummed.
So far I've lost a little over 1/2 of what I gained. I'm really watching what I eat. Mainly, I've been eating small meals throughout the day. During pregnancy I ate healthy but I gave into my cravings usually 3 or so times per day. They were so powerful , ha! And, I quit exercising, including walking by the end the 6th month, so basically I suck for not pushing myself to stay fit.

So here's the plan:
I already have my diet in check. That's easy for me because I like to eat healthy and I know how to do it, so I will.
Finding the time for exercise is the problem. And I know that eating well and running around busy all day will only take off so much weight before it stops. I need to burn calories!
We cancelled our gym membership at the Y a few months ago cuz neither of us were using it and it was too expensive. So, hopefully we'll be joining this other place soon. But, having the time is still a problem. My hope is that Justin will watch him a few evenings a week so I can go.

A couple other post pardum issues I'm having: dry skin and night sweats.

These pics of me are from about 4 years ago. This is the size I plan to get back to ASAP. Well, not the boobs...they've been surgically altered :)

1 month plus!

Dexter is getting so big! He has slept in his crib, in his room, the past three nights! He is still sleeping 3-4 hrs at a time. I think once his stomach is able to hold more he'll easily sleep through the night.
Dexter is napping right now. Usually I'd be trying to take a power nap at this time, but I actually got some sleep last night! My Mother-In-Law stayed the night and took care of him all night so that I could sleep. This also gives her a chance to spend some time with him.
Yesterday we went to JC Penney and got some pictures of Dexter done. They turned out great! He was so awake and didn't cry or get cranky. I'll post the pics when I get them.

Last week he had another play date. From left to right: Sarah, Dexter, Luke, and Jessica. It was a double date :) All of these babies will be at our Mommy and Me Yoga class, it starts this Saturday!
